1600s Florentine School
San Michele
(Saint Michael)

this painting arrived with a third of it missing. At some point it is believed someone made a smaller painting by reframing the image which the Saint Michael is pointing to. The edges of the canvas were becoming detached and it contained multiple holes.

The owner of this painting decided that they wanted the upper part removed and the piece reframed. After a strip lining treatment and placing onto a new stretcher, I applied imitative retouching where the paint layer was missing.
