Background

Following my BA in Philosophy and French from the University of Bristol, I completed an MA in Painting Conservation at Palazzo Spinelli, the Institute for Art and Restoration in Florence, Italy.

I began my conservation career at the Bastioni Association in Florence, where I helped to preserve the city’s painted cultural heritage. Here, I carried out the structural and aesthetic conservation of pieces by the likes of Ghirlandaio, Macchietti, Pocetti, and other Old Masters from the Rinascimento, but also of pieces by Modern Masters, such as Gauguin and De Chirico. Since then, I’ve relocated to the UK where I’ve worked with some of the top London conservation studios, such as Julia Korner and Hamish Dewar, whilst continuing to run my own practice for galleries and private clients across the UK.

A member of the British Association of Painting Conservator-Restorers, I am currently conducting research for a contribution to the BAPCR’s journal on “green chemistry” for painting conservation, particularly, the use of Essential Oils and Hydrolates as antifungal treatments in picture cleaning.
